Phil grew up in Pensacola, Florida where he
graduated from Pensacola Catholic High School. Following his graduation
from Samford University in Birmingham, he traveled to Fort Worth, Texas
where he received his Master’s from Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary. While in Fort Worth, he met Jan at Wedgwood Baptist Church
where they were both active in the Singles Ministry.
Phil has served as Associate Pastor at Brent Baptist
Church, here in Alabama, at West Oaks Baptist in Houston, Tx., and at
First Baptist Church in Titusville, Fl. He served as pastor of Joquin
Baptist Church in Luverne, Al. for three years, and of Holt Baptist
Church in Tuscaloosa, Al. for the past 11 years.
Jan, Phil’s wife, is from Huntsville and is also a
graduate of both Samford University and Southwestern Seminary. While
living in Luverne, she went back to school and received her Master’s
in Elementary Education from Alabama State University. She has been a
first grade teacher at American Christian Academy in Tuscaloosa for the
past six years.
Phil and Jan have been married since 1987 and have two
children: Blayne, who has just finished her Sophomore year at the
University of Mobile, and Chase, who is finishing his Sophomore year at
American Christian Academy. Blayne is preparing to follow in her mother’s
footsteps as an elementary school teacher. Chase is a Cross Country
athlete who also competes in the Field events with the Track & Field
team at ACA.
